The Plan’s three sponsors (College Employer Council (CEC), Ontario College Administrative Staff Association (OCASA), and Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU)) appoint members to the Plan’s two governance bodies, the Board of Trustees and the Sponsors’ Committee. Members and employers have equal representation on both bodies, as well as on the subcommittees of the Board of Trustees. These subcommittees give the 12-member Board of Trustees the ability to focus its attention on specific topics, leading to a more informed Board, and a more effective decision-making process.
New Governance subcommittee
In its September 2017 meeting, the Board of Trustees established a Governance Committee to work alongside the existing Finance and Administration, Investment, and Audit Committees. The Governance Committee assists the Board of Trustees in ensuring effective Board functioning and decision-making, and oversees management of the CEO & Plan Manager. Trustees Bill Kuehnbaum and Gretchen Van Riesen were elected Co-Chairs of the new committee at its inaugural meeting in November.
