If you are a member of the CAAT Pension Plan when the work stoppage begins, you remain a member as long as you return to work when the work stoppage ends.

If you are not working because of the work stoppage, you may be eligible to purchase periods of lost service when it ends. Generally, service purchase costs within 6 months after the event are two times your contributions, based on your earnings. Visit the website for details on the types of service purchases.

The CAAT Plan will provide details about the service purchase process and cost after the work stoppage has ended. If you have questions, contact the CAAT Plan.

If you are in the process of retiring, and your service is affected by the strike, you will have the option to purchase the service before your pension start date. If you have already received your retirement Option Document package, the Plan will contact you. Otherwise, your retirement Option Document package will include information about your service purchase options.

Strike Payments

Note that any strike payments you receive during the work stoppage are not pensionable earnings; therefore you cannot make Plan contributions on them.
