To provide administrative and support services for the Pension Management group of the CAAT Pension Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Community College/University or Business Institute diploma in Office Administration or equivalent. Two years or more of progressive office support experience. Aptitude for detailed work and high proficiency in Microsoft Office (including proficiency in Excel). Must be a critical thinker who can see the interactions and workings within the Pension Management team and can be the day to day conduit between the teams.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a full range of clerical and administrative support services to the Vice President, Pension Management and to the full Pension Management team which includes various types of correspondence, reports, and support for the actuarial and communication team.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, course registrations and completing membership registration for the Pension Management team.
  • Assist the Vice President Pension Management and the full Pension Management team in preparation for internal and external meetings including Board materials for Committee and Sponsors’ Committee meetings.
  • Prepare invites and materials for Pension Management meetings.
  • Maintain Pension Management contacts, correspondence through CRM.
  • Operate as part of a Plan-wide administration team as the second Tier to the Office Services team providing backup to reception as required
  • Perform other related administration tasks as may be required from time to time.

Policy Analyst (Full-Time)

Who you are

A proactive, professional Policy Analyst who is experienced and has the knowledge in maintaining risks associated with pension benefits, governance and funding. You are a quick learner looking for a full time opportunity where your extensive pension experience will be utilized. You are a team player, and a self-starter who can juggle multiple priorities.

What you’ll do

As a member of the Plan’s policy team, provide policy and monitoring services to the CAAT Pension Plan and provide input to the communications team on the content of Plan communications. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate should be good at solving problems through analysis of the matter in hand, applying and interpreting the applicable Plan terms or policies while weighing any competing factors. Hold an undergraduate degree or appropriate diploma in applied arts or business related fields. Possess a high level of analytical and critical thinking skills, with an attention to detail. Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.  Prior pension related experience an asset (2 to 3 years preferred, but not required).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform in depth and extensive research of the Plan’s policies and governing legislation as they apply to current or forthcoming issues and provide written reports as needed about their impact on the Plan’s policies, procedures and benefits
  2. Conduct research and analysis of changes to pension related legislation and regulatory oversight to determine the risk to the CAAT Pension Plan and provide solutions and alternatives to ensure compliance
  3. Develop alternatives and recommendations in support of issue resolution as the basis for controlling legal risk
  4. Maintain an intimate knowledge of applicable legislation (i.e. Income Tax Act, Ontario Pension Benefits Act) and act as technical resource for pension administration staff regarding pension administration policy related issues
  5. Provide information, analysis, and interpretation of Plan provisions to Pension Administration staff
  6. Complete pension policy reviews of member, pensioner and administrator publications, the pension administration manual, website materials and pension administration procedures and documents
  7. Manage the compilation and organization of the pension policy interpretation and legal opinions database as well as the records of the business process review outcome
  8. Assist in drafting Plan amendments in accordance with legislation and manage filing requirements of the regulators
  9. Monitor pension industry practices and develop comparative indicators
  10. Participate in pension policy discussions of the Major Ontario Pension Plans group
  11. Determine the potential policy impact of changes in Member collective bargaining agreements and terms and conditions of employment
  12. Assist with the governance of the CAAT RCA and act as a key resource for the RCA Sponsors’ Committee 

GOVERNANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as alternate recording secretary for meetings of the Sponsors’ Committee and Board of Trustees and, as required, for meetings of the Board’s Committees and the RCA Sponsors’ Committee
  • Maintain governance documentation related to governance meetings
  • Track tasks and action items derived from the meetings
  • Assist in drafting governance policies and amendments and in ensuring compliance with those policies in order to control governance risk
  • Manage the annual institutional memory document, Record of Fiduciary Decisions & Policy Changes
