We have exciting new opportunities for a Web Developer to work within our Software Development team. We are looking for a strategic, creative, and innovative individual with experience in information technology, web development, and tool building.

The position reports to the Team Lead, Software Development, and Support and will play an important role in our software development team to develop and support public-facing and internal web applications. You will design and implement well-maintained websites based on the .NET platform using Umbraco CMS as well as other third-party modules and systems.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Familiar with AODA compliance requirements
  • Has a strong understanding of OOP coding principles using C#
  • Experienced with querying and consuming from a REST backend
  • Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Has a strong sense of organization and prioritizing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to effectively multi-task in a deadline-driven atmosphere

A University or College Degree in Computer Science or related field(s), or equivalent practical experience with a strong ability to communicate, write and synthesize information, and at least two (2) years of experience with development help to make you an ideal candidate. You must have excellent knowledge of front-end technologies such as CSS, HTML5 and JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC, jQuery, LESS/SASS, Bootstrap, AJAX and RWD and Front-End Debugging Tools (ex. Chrome) and advanced knowledge and experience with Web UI frameworks (Kendo UI/Angular or AngularJS). Experience working with collaboration platforms, such as Git, JIRA, etc. is a strong asset.

Once here you will:

  • You will be creating and implementing new public-facing applications using the latest technologies
  • Collaborate in an Agile environment along with a dynamic team composed of software developers, architects, product managers, and quality assurance specialists
  • Innovate and optimize web structure to maximize reuse and facilitate maintenance
  • Ensure the trusty performance of our sites on all platforms: PC, mobile and tablet
  • Configure and test the display of each site on multiple platform screens (responsive design) ensuring its compatibility with different Web browsers
  • Optimize and improve website user experience (UX)
  • Recommend and apply best web practices
  • Design and develop code structures to promote reusability across many applications
  • Collaborate with the other developers on the team to define and integrate REST APIs with the UI components
  • Perform ongoing code reviews, bug fixes, and unit testing to ensure compliance with industry best practices and tests cases prior to QA delivery

Pension Analyst, Employer Services

We are looking for a resourceful, strategic thinking Pension Analyst to join our expanding Employer Services team.

This role is important because you will be the front-line pension administrator responsible for providing employers with technical support and guidance to facilitate the administration of the CAAT Pension Plan.  As part of the Employer Services team you perform annual data management and member statement activities, and contribution reconciliation processing.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Understanding of pension administration systems and working with pension plan texts
  • A quick learner with experience processing and completing transaction activities including terminations, retirements, deaths, transfers, service purchases (buybacks) and pension estimates
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, a mathematical aptitude

Pension Education Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented, client-focused Pension Education Specialist to join our expanding Pension Solutions team.

This role is important because you will be responsible for supporting the merger process by enhancing member and stakeholder groups’ understanding of the features and value of DBplus and the CAAT pension by delivering energetic, engaging member and stakeholder group information sessions off-site. 

The Pension Education Specialist will:

  • Promote and market features of the Plan to a wide audience
  • Promote general awareness of CAAT Plan joint governance structure
  • Promote, coordinate, manage, and deliver in-person member and employer information sessions.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Analytical skills are required, as well as attention to detail, a mathematical aptitude, excellent problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in using PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent public speaking and written communication skills required.  Ability to interact well with members and employers at different levels. 
  • A strong understanding of DB plans and the risks and the challenges they face. 
  • Current driver’s license valid in Ontario is required.
  • Experience in adult learning would be an asset. 

Your College Diploma or University Degree, as well as, 3-5 years of experience in MEPP or public sector pension administration or an outsourcing service provider, understanding of pension administration, and working knowledge of pension plan policies and procedures, makes you an ideal candidate.  You must also have or be actively pursuing your CEBS, PPAC, CFP, or CBP designations.

Once here you will:

  • Deliver member online and on-site presentations at the employer and/or union locations. Participate in member one-on-one sessions as requested
  • Attend and provide regular reports to the Lead/Growth Education and/or Director, Pension Solutions
  • Working with Communication, Transition, Member and Employer Onboarding, and Actuarial teams, coordinate the development of member presentation content, including existing sessions, and new sessions:
    • Assist with the revisions to slides, based on Plan’s key messages
    • Ensure all presentation materials are up-to-date based on current information, rates, legislative and Plan requirements
    • Write and edit scripts or talking notes
    • Help to develop presentation promotional material. Ensure promotional material up to date
    • Provide training, support, and coaching for colleagues who deliver presentations.
  • Coordinate all Plan member presentations including:
    • Coordinate with Lead, Growth Education on session logistics/additional staff attendance as required. 
    • Collect, summarize, and report on informal and formal feedback from the sessions to report on and make recommendations to improve presentations and the effectiveness of promotional materials and marketing plans. 
  • Work with Communication teams to develop support materials for on-site member sessions.
  • As requested, assist with internal training needs:
    • Support colleagues in preparing presentation material that delivers Plan’s key messages at a high standard
    • Provide assistance with PowerPoint, including working with Communications to maintain master templates.
  • On occasion, participate in employer training for individual employers and group sessions, as part of the Employer Education program.
  • Work with the Growth team on training staff.
  • Be a Plan champion.
  • Work with the communications team to help develop Web versions of presentation material.
  • Establish a thorough understanding of Plan provisions and be able to explain them simply and clearly.
  • Support overall CAAT Plan objectives and initiatives as required, with a key focus on DBplus.
  • Awareness of emerging risks and challenges to the Plan and other public sector pension plans.
  • Awareness of the work being done to promote DB pensions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Systems Administrator (Cloud)

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join our Technology team to help implement, maintain, and improve technology infrastructure and systems, both on-premise and cloud. In this role you will work with a growing team in a collaborative and innovative environment, supporting a broad range of technologies. You will provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting, and support others in supporting technology solutions.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • 5-7 years of Systems Administration
  • 3+ years of Cloud Systems administration
  • Post-secondary education in an Information Technology or Computer Science field.
  • Cloud certification with Azure, AWS or Oracle Cloud
  • Practical experience supporting cloud platforms – Azure, AWS, Oracle
  • Experience supporting Linux, Windows, virtualization, and cloud platform administration.
  • Practical experience managing cloud infrastructure for the portal, PowerShell, or using the CLI.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and supporting networking for multiple sites and connecting on-premise to the cloud – IPsec VPN, MPLS, LAN Extension
  • Strong comfort level working with command-line tools and writing shell scripts
  • Scripting experience with bash, PowerShell, or python is of value
  • Good understanding of security systems pertaining to the network and endpoints.
  • An aptitude for detailed work including extensive troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Experience implementing and supporting on-premise virtualization platforms – VMware vSphere
  • Understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Once here, you will:

  • Implement, maintain and improve IT systems
  • Support the implementation of CAAT Cloud Strategy
  • Ensure the availability, privacy, and security of CAAT’s network and data elements
  • Ensure recovery plans for systems can be successfully executed
  • Provide advanced technical support to staff
  • Support the service desk team in providing first call resolution to issues relating to IT systems
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that are escalated to the Technology team.
  • Act as a point of escalation with vendors support as required.
  • Develop the knowledge and skills required to provide support for improving technology services.
  • Develops scripts and reporting to improve processes, alerts, and monitoring of systems
  • Communicate with the team frequently regarding issues, changes, and suggestions.

Actuarial Analysts

We are looking for talented, experienced Actuarial Analysts to join our team. 

In this important role, you will help develop and utilize new tools to properly value benefits and measure risks in non-routine situations. You will support the Growth Team in analyzing trends and performing actuarial projections. You will be involved in a wide range of day-to-day tasks, internal projects, and special activities associated with the Plan's growth initiative. 

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics or Mathematics
  • Associate, Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA)/Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation or actively working towards an actuarial designation strongly preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of progressive professional experience in the actuarial area of the pension industry and a thorough understanding of pension calculations and process improvement make you an ideal candidate. 
  • You must also have significant abilities with financial, analytical, and modeling skills. 

In addition, we are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Superior analytical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex situations and synthesize relevant information
  • Adaptable in changing work environments
  • Strong business acumen, sound judgment and a high level of integrity
  • Action-oriented with a high degree of initiative and the ability to shift and manage multiple priorities

Once here:

  • Emphasis on data analysis for special projects and actuarial support around potential mergers with other pension plans
  • A key member of the actuarial team responsible for both improvement of existing tools and development of new tools as required
  • Work with Plan staff from various teams to resolve complex pension-related issues and high-risk or complicated benefit calculations 
  • In conjunction with the actuarial team prepare responses to questions submitted by Plan staff or stakeholders
  • Support actuarial filings and related funding analysis, complete peer reviews ensuring the accuracy of all filings and analysis
  • Support strategic initiatives by providing actuarial analysis and interpreting Plan provisions
  • Monitor and contribute to the preparation of quarterly statistical reports
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation with problem-solving, and identify opportunities to improve processes
  • Monitor pension industry practices while maintaining up to date knowledge on applicable pension legislation

Pension Analysts

We are looking for resourceful, strategic thinking Pension Analysts to join our Service Delivery department.  

Acting as a front-line pension administrator you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the CAAT Pension Plan. As part of our Service Delivery teams, you will process all types of transactions, calculations, and activities using the administration system, and will collaborate with internal teams and external plan members to ensure best in class service. 

We are looking for experienced individuals with a combination of the following attributes:

  • Understanding of complex pension administration systems and working with pension plan texts
  • Expertise in processing critical transactions and activities (e.g. terminations, retirements, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience executing test plans/cases, defect analysis, quality reviews, and data integrity
  • Strong knowledge of applicable legislation
