We are looking for a Translator to join our Communications Team where the work will be dynamic and fast-paced.

This role is important because you will work on translating all member-facing communications from English to French. Working in collaboration with the Senior Translator, you will be responsible for coordinating translation projects, including liaising with external translation providers. As a member of the Communications Team you will provide editing and peer review in English and French. You will have to manage multiple competing priorities within tight and legislated deadlines.

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

  • Fluently bilingual in written and spoken English and French.  
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Translation, Communications or related field.
  • Experience in a Translation, writing and editing role within a professional environment is required.  
  • Excellent grammar, written and spoken communication skills in both languages.  
  • Member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario, with an emphasis on English to French translation, is an asset.
  • Prior experience translating pension communications or financial services material is an asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and highly motivated to meet deadlines.
  • Analytical skills, high accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working in HTML, and a willingness to learn.

Web Developer, Middle Tier

We have exciting new opportunity for a Web Developer to work within our Software Development team. We are looking for a strategic, creative and innovative individual with experience in information technology, web development and tool building.

The position reports to the Team Lead, Software Development and Support and will play an important role in our software development team to develop and support public facing and internal web applications. You will design and implement well-maintained websites based on the .NET platform using Umbraco CMS as well as other third-party modules and systems.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • An experienced and talented developer
  • Familiar with database management systems (SQL Server and Oracle 12c)
  • Object Oriented coding practices, including strong design patterns knowledge, refactoring, clean code…
  • Microservices design/development experience required to integrate web applications with products built by 3rd party vendors
  • Experience with WSDL, XSLT, SOAP, JSON, JavaScript and data mapping tools,
  • Experience with Security technologies such as: X.509 certificates and mutual authentication, tokens (OAuth2, SAML, Kerberos, LTPA, etc)
  • Experience with Client facing Applications (HTTP/S, SNI, sessions, cookies, authentication and authorization, SSO, etc)
  • Understanding of DevOps deployment processes and technologies; Docker, Jenkins etc.
  • Experience in BDD and TDD methodologies
  • Experience in interfacing with Laserfiche and Jira is a plus

A University or College Degree in Computer Science or related field(s), with strong communication skills to articulate proposed solutions and concisely provide recommendations to business stakeholders, and at least three (3) years of experience in a .NET environment help to make you an ideal candidate. You must have a strong understanding of HTTP fundamentals and developing RESTful API services as well as a strong understanding of C#, .NET/.NET Core, ASP.Net Core MVC (or equivalent .NET framework experience). Knowledge of Java 8 and a banking/financial background is a strong asset.

Once here you will:

  • Be responsible for interfacing web portals with other supporting systems (pension management system, document management system, workflow/case management system, ect.)
  • Be responsible for providing solution using Microservices architecture and should be capable designing & coding robust scalable and loosely coupled components
  • Participate in project delivery process, research and recommend new solutions
  • Apply Microservices architecture and design principles consistently and holistically to enable target end-to-end usage scenarios
  • Be responsible for defining, creating and integrating high scale, large volume RESTful web services
  • Write unit tests, mocks, participate in code reviews
  • Effectively communicate with project team members, stakeholders and other IT teams such as application development, middleware and infrastructure teams.
  • Enforces processes around development methodologies including continuous integration (TFS/Jenkins), static code analysis, test coverage, etc.

Pension Analyst, Member Services

We are looking for a resourceful, strategic thinking Pension Analyst to join our expanding Member Services team.

This role is important because you will the front-line pension administrator responsible for all day-to-day tasks in the administration of the CAAT Pension Plan.  As part of the Member Services team, you support members by processing various types of transactions using the administration system to perform a variety of activities and perform calculations.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Provide a full range of confidential executive support services to the COO & CFO which includes maintaining email inboxes, calendars, travel arrangements, various types of correspondence, and reports. 
  • Prepare a bi-weekly executive dashboard for presentation by the COO & CFO to the CEO & Plan Manager.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, course registrations and completing membership registrations.
  • Support the COO &CFO’s Operating Committee (OpCom) by organizing meetings, maintaining standing agendas, minute taking, and following up to ensure action items are completed.
  • Assist the Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer and the full Core Operations group in preparation for internal and external meetings including Board materials for Committee, Board, and Sponsors’ Committee meetings.

Acting as a front-line service provider you will be responsible for responding to member inquiries that can be diverse and complex in nature. As part of our Service Delivery team, you will provide accurate and timely information about the CAAT Plan benefits and provisions within established services standards, in order for members to make informed decisions.

We are looking for experienced individuals with a combination of the following attributes:

  • Basic knowledge of Canadian pension and tax legislation

Associate, Real Assets

For more than 50 years, the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Pension Plan (CAAT Pension Plan) has been delivering secure lifetime pensions to employees of the Ontario college system. The Plan assumed its current jointly sponsored governance structure in 1995 and, more recently, has been growing its number of participating employers both related to and beyond the college sector.  The mission of the CAAT Pension Plan is to improve the financial security of members in retirement with meaningful and secure benefits supported by stable and appropriate contribution rates.  The investment strategy is developed out of an asset-liability analysis and detailed risk assessment. The Plan’s $10.8 billion pension fund is well-diversified across a broad range of public and private asset classes and return sources. We have an exciting new opportunity for an Associate, Real Assets to work within our Private Market Investment team.  The Associate, Real Assets is responsible for working with the Portfolio Manager in the identification, evaluation, selection, and monitoring of CAAT’s Real Asset investments. The Private Markets team is focused on building diversified portfolios through fund commitments and co-investments. By combining best-in-class manager selection with the ability to strategically deploy capital into attractive opportunities, the team seeks to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns over the long term.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the screening, due diligence, monitoring and reporting of real asset fund commitments and co-investments
  • Participate in the evaluation of prospective real asset investment opportunities, including: valuation, market trends, competition, and key investment risks and merits
  • Maintain and update the pacing model
  • Conduct research on real asset investment themes and perform special projects as needed
  • Prepare materials for and participate in internal meetings and external due diligence
  • Monitor current real asset investments and maintain a prioritized pipeline of fund and co-investment opportunities
  • Review real asset-related Investment Committee and senior management reporting materials and assist with accounting, finance or administrative functions when needed; review regular reporting and participate in conference calls related to real asset fund investments and co-investments
  • Actively contribute to Real Asset and Investment team discussions
  • With direction from senior staff, contribute to the standardization and documentation of CAAT's private market investing practices and processes

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of work experience including at least two (2) years in infrastructure or real estate-focused investment banking, transaction advisory or direct investing; one (1) year of experience at an Associate level is preferred
  • Undergraduate Degree from an accredited institution; MBA or CFA/ CPA designation preferred
  • Excellent financial analytical and modelling skills and an ability to perform cash flow, valuation and capital structure analysis
  • Sound working knowledge of portfolio management, due diligence, capital markets, accounting and real asset investing
  • Strong knowledge of investment research and trends
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to work collaboratively in a small, informal team setting or independently with solid prioritization and organizational skills
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director, Actuarial Solutions to lead CAAT Pension Plan’s actuarial services team supporting the new member and employer experiences for the Plan’s growth initiatives.  Reporting to the Vice President, Pension Solutions, this highly collaborative, people focused leader will be responsible for providing direction and oversight to the actuarial team.

The successful candidate will have technical experience in the following key areas:

  • Progressive experience in the pension industry with focus on complex actuarial topics, regulatory and pension plan policy and actuarial valuation along with a minimum of fifteen (15) years at a senior leadership level.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, demonstrated through the building of highly engaged, professional and collaborative teams and the establishment of strong working relationships at all levels of the organization and related stakeholder groups. 
  • Demonstrated record of success in mentoring and guiding teams through complex actuarial and regulatory challenges in support of merger and conversion initiatives.  Providing leadership on pension legislation and Income Tax Act provisions, acting as an escalation point on all growth-related actuarial matters.
  • Leading an actuarial team through the end to end process of bringing new employers who currently sponsor a defined benefit plan or capital accumulation plan (i.e. a defined contribution pension plan, Group RRSP, TFSA, etc.) into the CAAT Pension Plan.

A University Degree, Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation along with twenty (20) or more years of experience in the pension industry and at least fifteen (15) years of direct people leadership with the demonstrated ability to grow highly engaged teams is required.  Sound judgement and the ability to build strong relationships within teams and Plan stakeholders along with relevant experience with multi-jurisdiction pension plans and interacting with regulators is expected. Previous experience within jointly-sponsored or other multi-employer pension plans is strongly preferred.

You will be leading initiatives to partner with interested organizations, unions, and Boards in support of the Plan’s Growing Membership Strategy.  This highly collaborative, solution-focused pension expert will bring their formal marketing and client relationship background to the development of broad stakeholder relationships resulting in mergers and conversions into the CAAT Pension Plan’s DBplus design.

The successful candidate will have technical experience in the following key areas:

  • Progressive experience in the pension industry with working knowledge on actuarial valuation, regulatory and pension plan policy along with a minimum of fifteen (15) years in a client relationship management or business development leadership role.
  • Exceptional thought leader, engaging, professional and innovative, with a keen interest to provide guidance to potential organizations, unions, and Boards. An engaging speaker and subject matter expert in the pension industry with demonstrated success establishing of strong working relationships at all levels of organizations and related stakeholder groups. 
  • Demonstrated record of success in guiding stakeholders through complex merger and regulatory challenges. 
  • Providing support and leadership on relevant legislation and Income Tax Act provisions and acting as an escalation point on new business development matters.
  • The ability to lead end to end business development (growth) activities from initial client communication, engagement, needs assessments and product education, through to the successful onboarding of new members, ensuring their unique requirements and experience are always top of mind.

  • Extensive professional project and program leadership experience, working at a senior level for a minimum of ten (10) years, bringing a proven record of success in leading and delivering large, complex and highly visible programs
  • Experienced in both the leadership and management of committees, reporting progress to a Board of Directors and the development of key stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to leverage industry knowledge and emerging trends, identifying opportunities to develop and implement impactful process improvements, positioning an organization on the leading edge of innovative best practices and project strategy
  • Demonstrated experience recommending and defining standards and best practice guidelines, ensuring that business processes are repeatable, well developed and documented in support of ongoing program delivery and service excellence
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams of direct and indirect reports, overseeing the management of project teams and vendor performance while supporting project leads, ensuring exceptional program outcomes and the delivery of multiple projects in alignment with program priorities, delivery targets and benefits realization
  • Success in the overall accountability of project plans, collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders in the implementation of the overall strategic direction of projects while building and sustaining strong working relationships at all levels

A University Degree and Project Management Professional (PMP, PgMP, PfMP) designation or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience, along with a minimum of ten (10) years of direct project, program and people leadership in the delivery of large complex multifaceted programs is required.  Relevant experience within the pension, insurance or financial industries and a solid foundation in cross-functional, integrated, multi stream project delivery is also required.  Experience working with Smart Sheet and the design, development and delivery of playbooks are both strongly preferred.

In this important role, you will help develop and utilize new tools to properly value benefits and measure risks in non-routine situations. You will support the Growth Team in analyzing trends and performing actuarial projections. You will be involved in a wide range of day-to-day tasks, internal projects, and special activities associated with the Plan's growth initiative. 

A Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics or Mathematics, and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation (or working toward) along with three (3) or more years' of progressive professional experience in the actuarial area of the pension industry and a thorough understanding of pension calculations and process improvement make you an ideal candidate.  You must also have significant abilities with financial, analytical, and modelling skills. 

In addition, we are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Superior analytical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex situations and synthesize relevant information
  • Adaptable in changing work environments

We are looking for resourceful, strategic thinking Pension Analysts to join our Service Delivery department. 

 

Acting as a front-line pension administrator you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of the CAAT Pension Plan. As part of our Service Delivery teams, you will process all types of transactions, calculations, and activities using the administration system, and will collaborate with internal teams and external plan members to ensure best in class service. 

We are looking for experienced individuals with a combination of the following attributes:

  • Understanding of complex pension administration systems and working with pension plan texts
  • Expertise in processing critical transactions and activities (e.g. terminations, retirements, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience executing test plans/cases, defect analysis, quality reviews, and data integrity
  • Strong knowledge of applicable legislation
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and a mathematical aptitude
  • A quick learner with experience in member transactions
  • Exceptional communication skills for a business environment (both written and oral)
  • Sound judgment, collaborative team player who is detail oriented and logical
  • Someone who thrives juggling multiple priorities
  • Advanced Excel skills

Your College diploma or University Degree, with at least 5 years of experience with multiple employer pension plans (MEPP), public sector pension administration, or an outsourcing service provider will make you a strong candidate. You may also have or be actively pursuing your Pension Plan Administration Certificate, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist Program, or Certified Benefits Professionals designation(s).

 

Once here:

  • You will process and complete all transaction activities including terminations, retirements, deaths, transfers, service purchases (buybacks) and pension estimates
  • You will interact with employers and their members, former members, and retired members
  • You will participate in structured training sessions
  • You will conduct process reviews and support audit activities
  • You will support required system updates and identify opportunities to streamline processes
