We are looking for a strategic thinking Senior Communications Specialist to join our Marketing, Communications and Stakeholder Relations team where the work will be dynamic and fast paced.

This role is important because you will contribute to a broad range of communications, branding and marketing initiatives.  As a member of the Marketing, Communications & Stakeholder Relations team you will lead the development of multichannel communications that support our Growth and Implementation teams, whilst supporting the development of communications within a public policy and regulatory environment.

Your College Diploma or University Degree in public relations, marketing, or communications, with a strong program focus on writing abilities, and 7-10 years’ written and oral communication experience makes you a great candidate.  Your ability to lead and develop strategies from concept to implementation to grow and enhance an organization’s profile, reputation, and brand with a diverse set of stakeholders makes you the ideal candidate.

Once here:

  • You will lead the development and production of communications material that will support the Growth and Implementation teams
  • You will lead the development and implementation of digital content and interactive tools
  • You will work closely with communications and public affairs’ leadership to assist in the planning, writing, and editing of communication material
  • You will evaluate and adjust marketing strategies to meet changing regulatory, market and competitive conditions

Director, Information Technology

We have exciting new opportunity for a new Director, Information Technology to provide strategic direction and leadership oversight to the Software Development, Testing, Application and IT Operations and Security portfolios. We are looking for an innovative and collaborative leader with a wealth of experience in information technology who will ensure the delivery of all information systems supporting the organization.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Office and Chief Financial Officer, the Director will lead a team of six (6) direct reports and a full portfolio of approximately twenty (20) technical resources and growing. The Director is accountable to oversee the procurement, management, resourcing and development of information systems designed to allow the Plan to efficiently deliver superior service to its growing membership. S/he will ensure the overall data security and access to systems and will oversee the innovation of the Plan’s cyber risk program. The incumbent will also be accountable to prepare and manage the technology budget as it relates to hardware and software including licensing and maintenance agreements with a variety of vendors.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A collaborative, supportive and innovative leader
  • Knowledgeable in the design and execution of modern web application builds
  • Experienced with Oracle 12c, MS SQL Server and is proficient in SQL, PL/SQL for Oracle
  • Able to provide creative and innovative solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in the defined benefit pension industry is a significant asset.

A University or College Degree in a related field or equivalent working experience with fifteen or more years’ experience in database management, software development and local area network infrastructure design and maintenance. Along with at least five (5) years of proven leadership and development of teams delivering all aspects of IT including software development and testing. You must also have exceptional people management and leadership skills and the ability to work with a diverse stakeholder group especially towards the delivery of new technologies and implementation of systems.

  • You will lead, develop and mentor teams managing all aspects of information systems facing and internal web applications.
  • You will ensure processes are appropriately documented and the dissemination of knowledge and processes throughout information technology staff to ensure continuity of service and maintenance.
  • You will lead the ongoing innovation of information security practices by developing and overseeing cyber security programs and systems.
  • You will ensure the development and delivery of training and education programs in the area of information technology usage and cyber security.
  • You will manage external vendor relationships ensuring value for money objectives as being met, including managing vendor risk.
  • You will develop, implement and maintain effective information governance standards and controls.
  • You will own the preparation, monitoring, and managing the overall information technology budget and spending.
  • You will develop, maintain and execute on the overall data vision for the organization.

Print Production Specialist

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Print Production Specialist to work within our Office Services team. We are looking for a technical, motivated, and well-organized individual with experience in coordination of print production services for in house initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager, Office Services the incumbent will be accountable for the coordination of in house print production services including the management of external print suppliers and ensure all equipment installation, utilization and maintenance are all at optimal levels.  

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • A proactive, collaborative team player
  • Positive can do approach to work and an interest to learn new technical skills
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and shift priorities in a deadline driven atmosphere
  • Effective project coordination and time management skills
  • Strong vendor and stakeholder management abilities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

A College or University Degree along with five (5) or more years in a print production role make you an ideal candidate. You must also have expert ability within all major Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook.  Technical experience and familiarity with operation of machines with digital front end and multi-function production & mailing equipment (Xerox digital press and Pitney Bowes equipment) is a requirement.

Once here:

  • You will use your strong technical understanding of Adobe Acrobat Pro to be able to combine or merge PDF files and split a PDF document.
  • Manage large internal and external mailings (up to 30,000 items per mailing), and also the print on demand and day to day production of communications materials
  • Provide guidance, compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of supplies, materials and equipment and makes recommendations on process improvements and areas for cost control without reducing quality
  • Correspond with vendors and keep informed of new products and services
  • Work with end users to ensure mailings are fully integrated from the beginning of the process
  • Research, recommend and source qualified and reliable external print vendors to meet CAAT Pension Plan’s business needs
  • Liaise with external print suppliers for any outsourcing production requirements to ensure they meet the organizations specifications and quality standards

We have exciting new opportunities for Web Developers to work within our Software Development team. We are looking for a strategic, creative and innovative individual with experience in information technology, web development and tool building.

The position reports to the Team Lead, Software Development and will play an important role in our software development team to develop and support public facing and internal web applications. You will design and implement well-maintained websites based on the .NET platform using Umbraco CMS as well as other third-party modules and systems.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • An experienced and talented developer
  • Knowledgeable in the design and execution of modern web application builds
  • Experienced with Oracle 12c, MS SQL Server and is proficient in SQL, PL/SQL for Oracle

You must have expert level knowledge of C#, and .NET 4 framework including ASP. NET MVC using Visual Studio 2012 or newer.

Hands-On expert in creating high performance web application leveraging popular JavaScript Frameworks (JQuery, Bootstrap, Angular JS) is a strong asset.

Once here:

  • You will play an important role in our software development team to develop and support public facing and internal web applications.
  • You will design and implement well-maintained websites based on the .NET platform using Umbraco CMS as well as other third-party modules and systems.
  • Your knowledge of website architecture, including Microsoft IIS, will allow you to lead the infrastructure design of a multi-site platform that developers will find efficient to use and allow content managers to effectively manage multiple websites.

Actuarial Analyst

We are looking for two (2) talented, experienced Actuarial Analysts to join our team.

In this important role, you will help develop and utilize new tools to properly value benefits and measure risks in non-routine situations.   You will support the Growth Team in analyzing trends and performing actuarial projections.  You will be involved in a wide range of day-to-day tasks, internal projects, and special activities associated with the Plan’s growth initiative.

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and experience:

  • University degree (e.g. majoring in actuarial science, statistics or mathematics) and/or College diploma and/or a combination of equivalent training, education and experience. 
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation or actively working towards an actuarial designation strongly preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the actuarial area of the pension industry
  • Thorough understanding of pension calculations and strong Excel skills. 
  • Experience in the development of administrative business requirements would be an asset. 
  • Accountability - Takes ownership of personal workload and performs tasks to completion within deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Problem solver always looking to improve current practices
  • Someone who is eager to grow and develop and can juggle multiple priorities

Once here:

  • Emphasis on data analysis for special projects and actuarial support around potential mergers with other pension plans
  • Key member of the actuarial team responsible for both improvement of existing tools and development of new tools as required
  • Work with Plan staff from various teams to resolve complex pension related issues and high-risk or complicated benefit calculations 
  • In conjunction with the actuarial team prepare responses to questions submitted by Plan staff or stakeholders
  • Support actuarial filings and related funding analysis, complete peer reviews ensuring the accuracy of all filings and analysis
  • Support strategic initiatives by providing actuarial analysis and interpreting Plan provisions
  • Monitor and contribute to the preparation of quarterly statistical reports
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation with problem solving, and identify opportunities to improve processes
  • Monitor pension industry practices while maintaining up to date knowledge on applicable pension legislation
