New publications help you understand the value of your benefit
Over the past several months, we’ve updated the content of our pension handbooks and some of our most popular pamphlets. We’re pleased to announce that these are now available. Pick up a copy at your Human Resources office, download a PDF version or read them online.
Member Handbooks
The Member Handbook, “An investment in your future” explains the retirement benefit you are earning in the Plan. It contains the most up-to date information about membership in the Plan in an easy-to-read format. The new Member Handbook is meant to work in conjunction with our updated pamphlets, to provide further details on specific provisions.
We’ve also updated a number of other publications: “Make an investment in your future” is a guidebook for part-time employees who belong to the Plan, or are considering membership in the Plan. Combined with the Member Handbook, you’ll have all the information you need to make the decision to join the Plan, or understand the pension you’re already earning as an Other Than Regular Full-Time member.
Other publications
We’ve updated key pamphlets about other benefits in the Plan:
- “Increase your service with a transfer” and “Getting more out of your pension – Purchasing service” outline the Plan’s provisions for transferring previous service or purchasing service breaks, helping you build an even larger pension.
- “Protecting your loved ones” outlines the survivor benefits available if you die before you retire.
- We’ve also introduced a brand new pamphlet “Enhancing an already valuable benefit” which explains the components that make up the inflation protection provision applied to current pensions.
Because the Plan offers a number of flexible provisions, you often have choices to make about your pension. That’s why we’ve introduced a new series of booklets that we call “Making choices”. The first three booklets in the series are:
- Choosing your retirement date,
- Working past age 65, and
- Reach your retirement goals, (which explains the benefits of joining the Plan to new and potential members).
