Transfers
New members are able to transfer service from a variety of previous employers into the CAAT Pension Plan. This portability allows members to build a larger pension, paid from a single source at retirement, and could allow them to retire earlier on an unreduced pension.
"Intergroup transfers" are what we call it when a member leaves work at one college or related employer to go work at another. The transition in membership is seamless for the member and the pension is unaffected.
Service transfers can involve time limits, so it's best to inquire at enrolment, and proceed immediately if the member wishes to transfer service into the Plan.
