FAQ - Early Retirement
There are two types of early retirement pensions: unreduced and reduced. Your early retirement pension will be unreduced if you meet one of the two following requirements:
- 85 Factor (your age plus Pensionable Service total at least 85)
- 60/20 Rule (you are at least 60 years old with at least 20 years of Pensionable Service).
If for example you are 57 years old with 24 years of Pensionable Service, your total is 81 (57 + 24 = 81).
This is not enough for the 85 Factor. You would need to wait for 2 years, when you are 59 with 26 years of Pensionable Service, to qualify under the 85 Factor.
