Rehired Pensioner Under Age 65 - Full-time
Definition / Eligibility:
When a CAAT Pension Plan Pensioner under age 65 is rehired by a College on a Full-time basis, their pension payments stop and they automatically rejoin the Plan. When the Member retires again, the pension will be based on all Pensionable Service the Member has earned less an adjustment to reflect any previous pension payments received.
College Responsibilities:
- Complete Pension Membership Enrolment form. The Member may want to name a non-Spouse Beneficiary in Section B, "Personal Information " and must sign page 2, "Consent for the Collection and Use of Personal Information".
- Make copies of the Pension Membership Enrolment form for your records and return the original to the CAAT Pension Plan.
- Give Member a copy of the Member Handbook and the pamphlet "It's about your privacy".
- Tell Member that the current pension will be suspended until he or she retires or reaches age 71, whichever is earlier. The Member can continue working past age 71, although at that age he or she must stop contributing to the Plan and start receiving a pension.
- Remind the Member that when they retire again, the pension will be based on all Pensionable Service the Member has earned less an adjustment to reflect any previous pension payments received.
CAAT Pension Plan Responsibilities:
- Enrol the Member.
