Canada Pension Plan (CPP)
Definition/Eligibility:
People who have contributed to the Canada Pension Plan are entitled to start collecting a CPP pension if they are 65 or older, or if they are between 60 and 64 and have retired according to CPP rules
College Responsibilities:
- Tell Members to contact the federal government department called Service Canada at least six months before they want to receive their CPP pension. The application form and an explanatory booklet are available there.
Member Responsibilities:
- Contact Service Canada at least six months before they want to start receiving a CPP pension. Call 1-800-277-9914 or go to www.servicecanada.gc.ca/en/sc/cpp.
